Gauss's Law [Electrostatics]

Statement :

" The total electric flux through any closed surface is equal to times the net charge enclosed by the surface "

    Where

             

Mathematically,

                       Gauss's Law [Electrostatics]

Where  q = total charge enclosed by the surface 'S'.

 

 

Importance :

It is applicable for any closed surface of any shape  size and charge may be located at any point inside the surface.

It is applicable for stationary and moving charge.

It is useful in calculating the electric intensity and potential due to charge distribution.
